No backing tracks, no karaoke, nothing pre-recorded. This Melbourne funk outfit plays everything 100 percent live, and they'll tell you straight that they're not a wedding band in the polite sense. What they do is old school soul, funk, R&B, Motown and Stax: James Brown, Aretha, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, The Temptations and Tower of Power, pulled right through to Amy Winehouse, Bruno Mars and Daft Punk. The band builds from a 5 piece with sax up to a 10 piece with a full horn section and dual lead vocals, and they can send in a soloist or a chilled jazz trio early before the funk arrives. Sets usually run as 2 x 60 minutes or 3 x 40, with PA and lighting available on request.

The usual shape is two 60 minute sets or three 40 minute ones, and other splits are on the table if your night runs differently. The bigger point is that the show gets built around your event rather than dropped into it. Want jazz and chilled playing early, then funk, soul, R&B, dance and pop once people have eaten? That's a normal request. A specific song played live for a moment that matters? Ask. And if you're an artist yourself, the band will back you for a number on the night.
It scales a long way, and all of it stays live. At the quiet end there's a soloist for a ceremony, or a jazz duo, trio or quartet on request. Then the funk line-ups start. Five piece is lead male vocal, drums, keys doubling bass, guitar and sax. Six adds a dedicated bass player. Seven brings in a trumpet or trombone or a female vocalist. Eight has both trumpet and trombone. Nine puts a lead female vocal out front alongside the male. And the ten piece adds one more on top of that, either a second female vocal, a second trumpet or a bari sax.
