The 80s Vs 90s Show

The act

Twenty four costume changes in one night. That's the scale of this show, which splits the evening into a full hour of 80s hits and a full hour of 90s, with alternating female and male lead vocals. Madonna, Billy Idol, Blondie, Queen, the Spice Girls and Blink 182 all get a run. Audiences are encouraged to come dressed in their own 80s or 90s gear, and the band hands out prizes for best dressed on the night. They can supply their own PA, LED light show and two handheld radio mics for speeches, or plug into your venue's production. Based in Cannon Hill, they play corporate events and parties around Brisbane.

Good to know

What to expect

The night splits cleanly in two. One full hour of 80s, a short break, then a full hour of the biggest 90s songs, both sets built around the artists people actually remember from those decades. Energy is the selling point and the commitment to it is total. There's a prize giveaway for the best dressed guests too, which is a small thing that makes a surprising difference, because once a few people turn up in costume the whole room commits.

On the day

Production is usually supplied by the venue or the client, and the show plugs straight into it. Where that isn't available, the band has its own: a large sound system and a 24 can light show with moving lights, plus sound engineers and lighting technicians to run it. Two handheld radio microphones can be provided for speeches. Worth saying early which way you're going, because it changes what the room needs on the day.

Set List

Two 60 minute sets plus an encore, with the male and female singers alternating and costume changes between songs. The 80s set opens on Funkytown by Pseudo Echo and runs through Counting The Beat by The Swingers, Call Me by Blondie, Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benatar, Love Shack by The B-52's, I Want To Break Free by Queen, Material Girl by Madonna, What I Like About You by The Romantics, I Love Rock N Roll by Joan Jett, Footloose, Don't Change by INXS, Kids In America by Kim Wilde, Rebel Yell by Billy Idol and Video Killed The Radio Star by The Buggles. The 90s set brings Turn Back Time by Cher, All The Small Things by Blink 182, Wannabe by the Spice Girls, Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down, the Shania Twain singalong about feeling like a woman, Basket Case by Green Day, Baby One More Time by Britney Spears, Enter Sandman by Metallica, Just A Girl by No Doubt, an extended Song 2 by Blur, Zombie by The Cranberries, Lump by The Presidents of the United States of America, Simply The Best by Tina Turner and Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. The encore is Kids by Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue, with both singers up.

Performance options

You can run the show on your venue's own production, or have the band bring the full sound and lighting rig with an operator to run it through the night. Taking the second option also puts two handheld microphones in the room, which is what you want on hand for speeches and announcements.
