Good to know
What to expect
Fingerstyle guitar, played properly. Andrew Ellis works melody, bass and percussion on the guitar body all at once, which means one player fills a room that would normally need a few. You can have it purely instrumental or ask for some light vocals through the set. It works as background music while people arrive and eat, and it also holds up as the thing everyone actually sits and watches. So it bends to whatever your event needs on the day.
On the day
Power within about 10 metres of where he plays, for the PA. A performance space of at least 2 by 2 metres. Outdoors, he needs cover from rain and direct sun. His own PA handles crowds up to around 150 guests, and for anything bigger the venue's in-house sound or an extra tech is worth sorting.
Set List
Two EPs of original instrumental music make up a good chunk of what you'll hear, all percussive fingerstyle with a melodic thread running through it. Around that sit acoustic reworkings of Tommy Emmanuel, Bon Jovi, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles and Nirvana, pulled through his own playing style rather than copied note for note. Light vocal pieces are on offer if you ask, and he'll arrange a specific song for a wedding or a particular moment. Set length is flexible, anywhere from one 45 minute set to three.
Performance options
Three set lengths to pick from: one 45 minute solo instrumental set with full setup and soundcheck, two 45 minute sets with a short break between them, or three 45 minute sets. The two set option suits weddings and cocktail hours, and the longest one can include a guitar Q and A or a meet and greet if you want the guests involved. Festivals and themed events can be quoted separately, and he takes workshop and demonstration bookings.
