Aussie and the Menace fold Australian and Canadian roots into an Americana sound built on real songwriting: originals like If This Guitar Could Talk, which picked up an Australian Songwriter Award in the country category, sit alongside Copperhead Road, 500 Miles, Eagle Rock and Heart of Gold. Covers run from the 50s to now across pop, rock and country. They'll come as a solo, a duo for quieter rooms, or the full four piece with its own backline and mixer, and with a professional audio engineer in the lineup, most small to medium venues need to provide nothing more than a PA and two monitors.

Americana and roots with real songwriting underneath it, which is the part that separates this from a straight covers gig. The originals come first: emotive, catchy, written to be listened to. Then come the classic rock covers and the country flavours, and a mix of Canadian and Australian favourites. Most of the night you can talk, eat and move around. But when Stuck in the Middle With You or 500 Miles or Eagle Rock lands, they'll push the volume up and let the floor fill.
It depends which version you book. The acoustic duo brings everything and suits a quieter room. The full four piece needs a PA and two floor monitors from you, and brings its own backline, mics and stands, plus an X32 mixer they tune to the room and patch into your system. Standard rig is two guitar DIs, a bass DI and a mic'd drum kit. A sound engineer helps at bigger venues, though one of the band does audio professionally, so most small to medium rooms are covered.
Three sets deep, and roughly a third of it is their own material. Set one runs Heart of Gold, The Weight, Hold On, Stuck in the Middle With You and Lullaby, threaded with originals like When I Was Five, If This Guitar Could Talk (which won an Australian Songwriter Award in the country category), Big Montana Sky, Hurricane and Wild West Show. Set two mixes Come Back Again, Eagle Rock, No Secrets, Gulf of Mexico and Down on the Corner with Always Gonna Be That Way, Cabin in the Woods, Crystal Ball, You've Got a Good Heart, Bramble Lane, Angels Among Devils and Daddy's Guns. Set three goes Copperhead Road, 500 Miles, Mountain of Love, Pink Houses, These Days, Hasn't Hit Me Yet, Royals, Share the Darkness, Joshua and All Along the Watchtower, with Six String and We Can Be Dreamers in the mix. Extras on hand include She Talks to Angels, Landslide, Let Her Go, Iris, End of the Line, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Wicked Game, Reason to Believe and originals Five Mile Beach, Simple Man and Falling. Ask for a song and they'll usually learn it.
There are three ways in. The duo comes fully self-contained and plays two sets of listening music. The full band does two, three or four sets, and you can either supply the PA or have the band bring one. There's also a version built for festivals and events that involve travel.
