A horn section changes a party, and Black Tie Party can bring one. Formed by a group of old friends, this Melbourne band scales from an acoustic duo through a trio up to a seven piece, with saxophone and trombone joining drums, bass, piano, guitar and vocals. Their material moves between soul, rock and roll, dance and modern pop, and they shape every show to the client rather than running the same night twice, with a few surprises thrown in along the way. Wedding couples have praised setlists that balanced modern hits with old classics so the young guests and the older ones both stayed on the floor, and one bride said they picked the mood of her wedding perfectly and played straight to the crowd. This is a band with the volume knob pointed one way. Black Tie Party play for the dance floor and expect to keep people on it, with vocals out front and a rhythm section that doesn't let the energy drop between songs.
