The act
One of the few Brisbane bands playing this week's Top 40 as comfortably as the old favourites. Blonde Chocolate move between Ed Sheeran and Michael Buble, ABBA and Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift and the Black Eyed Peas, with a songlist past 1,000 titles covering pop, dance, R&B, funk, jazz, Latin and rock. No metal, and they're upfront about that. The band works as a duo, trio, four piece or five piece, playing four sets of roughly 45 minutes with recorded music through the breaks, and they'll restructure around speeches and presentations. Play your requests all night or let them read the crowd, whichever you prefer. Setup and lighting take about an hour, so they'll need room access and a park near the door. All members and contractors are insured.

What to expect
Musicians who are easy to deal with, which sounds like faint praise until you've dealt with the alternative. You can hand them a list and have your requests played all night, or leave it to them to watch your guests and pick accordingly. Either is fine by them. Four sets, generally around 45 minutes each, with recorded music filling the breaks so the room never goes quiet. And if you've got speeches, a cake, or a presentation to fit in, the sets get built around those instead of interrupted by them.
On the day
A few practical things to line up with your venue. Parking as close to the function room entrance as possible for load in and out, and a heads up about stairs, lifts or steep inclines so extra time can be allowed. Access to the room for up to an hour, since equipment and lighting both need setting up. Staging sized to the line-up you've booked, whether that's a duo or a six piece. At least two separate power supplies for the audio and lighting boards. And if it's outdoors, a waterproof roof over the band and the gear.
