What to expect
Jordan is the singer, songwriter and guitarist you'll be dealing with, and he's been at this full time for close to a decade. Weddings, corporate nights, private parties and public events. The rooms he's worked tell you plenty: InterContinental Hayman Island Resort, the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and the Queensland Art Gallery on the corporate side, Victoria Park, Summergrove Estate and Maleny Manor on the wedding side. The songlist keeps growing and it stretches across pop, rock, Top 40, funk, country and old school dance. He can lead a full band or run the DJ set, and either way he's watching the floor and adjusting. He also works with your venue and other suppliers rather than around them.
On the day
Power is the main thing. A solo or duo booking would rather have a power point, but there's a battery powered speaker if the ceremony spot is out in a paddock somewhere. Bring in the full band or the DJ and you'll need proper room to set up plus power outlets. One extra for the party DJ: wi-fi at the venue lets guests send requests through on the night. No wi-fi is fine too, your playlists can be downloaded before the day.
Set List
Think of the songlist as a guide rather than a fixed running order, and if there's a song that matters to you, he'll learn it. Slow and steady early on: Make You Feel My Love by Adele, Stand By Me, Just The Two Of Us and Lovely Day by Bill Withers, Piano Man, Skinny Love, Somewhere Over The Rainbow in the Israel Kamakawiwo'ole version, Can't Help Falling In Love the Kina Grannis way, At Last, Best Part by Daniel Caesar, and Ed Sheeran's Perfect and Thinking Out Loud. Then it lifts. Dancing Queen, How Deep Is Your Love, Uptown Funk and Treasure by Bruno Mars, Summer Of 69, Old Time Rock and Roll, Blue Suede Shoes into Hound Dog, I Will Survive, Levitating, Shape Of You, American Boy, Forget You, Watermelon Sugar, Faith and Love Shack territory. There's a good Australian run in there too, with April Sun In Cuba, Big Jet Plane, Southern Sun and Somebody That I Used To Know. Plus Valerie, Viva La Vida, Dreams and Landslide, Pumped Up Kicks, Redbone, Crazy, Time After Time, Put Your Records On, Budapest, Shotgun, Pompeii, Lost, Nothing, If I Ain't Got You, I'll Make Love To You, 10,000 Hours, Taylor, You Give Me Something, How Sweet It Is and I'm Yours by Jason Mraz.
Performance options
Three ways to book this one. Acoustic solo is the quiet end, an acoustic duo fills it out a little, and the live band brings in a female vocalist alongside bass, drums and sax. Plenty of couples run the acoustic option through the ceremony and dinner, then hand the night over to the band. Tell the enquiry what shape your day takes and the line-up gets built around it.
