The west coast of America in the 1970s, revived note for note. CALIFORNIA GOLD is a five piece Sydney band devoted to the great run of west coast singer songwriters: Fleetwood Mac and Eagles harmonies, Linda Ronstadt's big ballads, the grooves of the Doobie Brothers and Bonnie Raitt, and songs by Jackson Browne and Carole King. The two hour show puts real work into recreating the vocals of the original records, so Hotel California, Go Your Own Way and Blue Bayou sound the way you remember them. It suits clubs, corporate nights and functions where people want to listen as much as dance. The band needs a five by three metre stage, one power outlet and a couple of hours' access before showtime. Full public liability insurance held.

What to expect
Two hours devoted to one particular stretch of music: the west coast of America and the songwriters who came out of it. Five players, and the effort goes into the vocals, because those records lived or died on harmony. So Hotel California and Go Your Own Way arrive with the parts intact, Linda Ronstadt's big ballads get the range they need, and the Doobie Brothers and Bonnie Raitt material brings the rhythm section forward. Jackson Browne and Carole King fill in the quieter corners. It suits a room where people came to listen, though the back half of the set will get them up.
On the day
Five metres by three of stage, or more if you have it, for a five piece plus their gear. One standard power outlet. And access to the room a minimum of two hours ahead of the show, which is the bit worth protecting in your schedule, because that window covers the load-in and the sound check before anyone arrives.
