Community choirs and small a cappella groups, available across Sydney and its suburbs for weddings, parties, festivals and Christmas events. There are five choirs, each carrying up to 30 pieces in current repertoire, and once availability is checked for your date a group of 20 to 30 singers can usually be put together. They sing continuously for 25 to 30 minutes before a break, and can be on site anywhere from one to three hours. Gospel, classical, pop, folk, jazz, world music and carols all feature: Fly Me To The Moon, Over The Rainbow, Space Oddity, Sounds Of Silence, Ave Verum Corpus, I'll Fly Away. Halls and churches with natural resonance suit them best. Open outdoor spaces usually need a PA, because voices vanish out there.

What to expect
Once your date is checked against the singers' availability, a group of twenty to thirty voices usually comes together for it. There are five choirs, and each has up to thirty pieces of music sitting in its current repertoire, so the programme gets picked for the occasion rather than delivered the same way every time. They sing continuously for twenty five to thirty minutes and then take a break, and can stay on site anywhere from one to three hours. Some pieces are unaccompanied and others use a guitar or piano played by someone in the group. They turn up properly dressed. Songs outside the repertoire can be arranged and learned, so raise it early.
On the day
Voices carry best in a hall or a church with some natural resonance, and those rooms suit a choir better than anything else. Open outdoor space is the hard one: sound just vanishes into it, so a PA is usually needed out there, and sometimes indoors as well. Long stretches in direct sun don't work for singers, so shelter matters. A choir member will meet your event organiser beforehand to sort out the details of the day.
