Phil Collins tone, Joe Cocker rasp. That's how people describe Danny Doon, and the guitar playing under it is more energetic than most solo acts bother with. His Acoustic Grooves show is the laid back one: original arrangements of familiar covers, plus a few tunes that make a room go oh, that song. He's opened for The Radiators, Mental As Anything, Pseudo Echo and John Schumann from Redgum, and Maclean Services Club noted it was the first time they'd seen a whole room sing along to a support act. Three and a half hours of it, covering Doris Day through to AC/DC, old rock and roll, country rock, Aussie classics and modern hits. He sets up before guests arrive and will build the between-sets playlist to your taste. Gold Coast based. A rock show, a duo with drums and a full trio are also available. Insured with Duck 4 Cover.

Good to know
What to expect
Tell Danny what kind of night you want and that's what you get. Ask for background music and it stays background. Ask for a singalong and a dance floor and either the acoustic or the rock show will take you there. He's on site and set up before your guests walk in, so nobody watches him assemble anything. Three and a half hours of playing, drawing on a range that runs from Doris Day to AC/DC by way of old rock and roll, country rock, Aussie classics and current material. And the playlist that fills his breaks gets built to your taste too, not just left on shuffle.
Performance options
Four sizes, same person at the front. The acoustic solo show is the laid back one. The rock solo show runs on backing tracks and puts his lead guitar playing out front, which is a noticeably different night. Add a drummer and it becomes a duo with a proper backbeat. Or take the trio for full live band sound and the energy that comes with three people pushing each other. Which one suits depends on the room and how much of it you want filled, so it's worth describing the space when you enquire.
