The act
Fingerstyle and percussive guitar, the kind where the body of the instrument is doing half the rhythm, matched with an easy voice on top. Danny Shamess grew up in northern Ontario and has taken the act through auditoriums, lounges, jazz and blues clubs, festivals, weddings and private functions across the world, thousands of shows across more than ten years. He's shared stages with Grammy winners JJ Grey & Mofro, Finger Eleven, David Wilcox and Juno winner Crystal Shawanda. Ben Harper heard his cover of Diamonds On The Inside and called it better than the original. The song list stretches from Johnny Cash to Eric Clapton, John Mayer to The Police, Bob Marley to Ray Charles, all of it given the same percussive treatment. Gold Coast based, and he supplies the sound gear for local shows.

What to expect
The song list is deliberately wide, because a function room usually has three generations in it and the twenty-year-olds and their grandparents both have to get something. Johnny Cash through to John Mayer, that sort of spread. Behind it is more than ten years of playing and thousands of shows across several countries, so very little on an event day is new to him. Danny takes the gear seriously too, and that's the line between clean sound and a night of feedback. Friendly on the day, and straightforward to deal with in the lead-up.
On the day
For anything around the Gold Coast, he supplies all the sound equipment himself. No PA hire, no working out whether the venue's system is up to it, no extra supplier in your run sheet. He arrives with what the show needs and takes it away again afterwards. If your event is further afield, raise it in your enquiry, because the gear arrangement is set up for local work and interstate bookings get sorted case by case.
