The act
Johnny Wood has been playing Aussie pubs since 1995, when he was 15, and still plays local gigs most weekends across the Central West of NSW. Around 2007 he built DJ and karaoke work into the business alongside the live playing, and weddings and corporate audiovisual are now the main game. He covers over 170 acoustic songs and doesn't run set lists, DJ or live, because the crowd in front of him decides. Guitar one minute, turntables the next, with looped rhythm and percussion under his own vocals. He's an accredited DJAA member, holds public liability cover, and the business is PPCA compliant. Stage size doesn't bother him. Big room or small corner, he'll work with it.

Good to know
What to expect
Johnny is straightforward to deal with, and couples in particular get treated with a bit of respect rather than processed. The musical side is the interesting part. He moves between guitar and turntables without it feeling like a gimmick, building solo work up with rhythm and percussion loops one moment and beat matching a DJ mashup the next. Improvisation is his strength, and after playing pubs since 1995 he knows which songs make a wedding work. He'll help sort out what your night actually needs rather than selling you the biggest option.
On the day
Stage size genuinely isn't an issue. Johnny has played every kind of room and every kind of condition across the Central West, from proper stages down to a corner of a function room, and he adapts the setup to whatever space is available. Bigger is nicer, but fun has no size limit, as he puts it. So don't rule out a booking because your venue is tight.
Set List
Over 170 acoustic songs sit in the live repertoire. There's no set list though, and that's on purpose: the crowd in front of him decides what gets played, so a 50th and a wedding reception get very different treatment. The DJ sets run the same way, no list, just a read of the room and the age group in it, and the music picked to match.
Performance options
Three main wedding entertainment options exist, covering the different combinations of live acoustic playing, DJ sets and karaoke across a day. If none of them lines up with what you're planning, he'll build something specific to your requirements instead. Weddings and corporate audiovisual work are the main game these days.
