The act
Latin rhythms, nursery rhymes and a room full of kids dancing. That's the shape of a Fiesta with Miss Val session, an Adelaide children's show built on singing, movement and instruments the kids get to explore for themselves. Some songs are familiar rhymes with a Latin twist, others are original. Sessions are shaped so every child can join in at their own pace, and there's usually a photo spot with Miss Val at the end. Schools, childcare centres and birthday celebrations are the regular work, and longer or themed sessions can be put together for a bigger event. You'll need a clear open space for dancing and a power outlet nearby. Public liability insurance, Working with Children Check and First Aid are all current. Around a week's notice, please.

Good to know
What to expect
Kids don't sit still for this one, and they're not meant to. Miss Val builds each session around upbeat Latin music, some of it nursery rhymes given a Latin twist, some of it her own original songs. Dancing is the point. So is having a go on the instruments. The room is set up so every child can join in however they want to, whether that's a confident kid down the front or one who'd rather watch for the first song and then edge in. Give her about a week's notice and she'll have it ready.
On the day
The main thing is floor space. A clear, open area where children can move and dance safely does the job, and that can be a classroom, a hall or any play area you'd normally let kids run around in. She needs a power outlet somewhere near where she's performing for the audio gear. And if you'd like the photos at the end, keep a small corner free for kids to line up with Miss Val once the music stops.
Set List
There's no fixed running order. Each session works more like a journey through different Latin rhythms, instruments and ways of moving, with familiar nursery rhymes reworked with a Latin feel sitting alongside Miss Val's own original songs. Kids sing, clap, dance and get to hear what the instruments actually sound like up close. And the music does the teaching, which is the nice part.
Performance options
A session can be built to fit whatever you're running. That might mean stretching the live music and dancing out longer than a standard visit, working in a particular cultural theme and the songs that go with it, or putting together interactive bits designed around your specific group of kids. Tell her what the event is and she'll shape the show to it.
