Human jukebox is the description Gavin Lazarus has picked up, and the song list backs it up. It runs from Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry through the Beatles, Bowie, Bill Withers, Bob Marley, the Clash, Crowded House, Blur and Arctic Monkeys, sorted by decade from the 50s to the 2000s. Jazz standards sit in there too. He can hold a room quietly during dinner or turn it into something people dance to, and he's good at reading which one the night actually wants. Formats include solo acoustic, solo with backing tracks for a fuller sound, a live band behind him for 50s and 60s shows, and Rat Pack and swing nights done solo, as a duo, or with the full group. Needs power, cover from sun and rain, and somewhere close to unload. Public liability insurance and Blue Card held.

Good to know
What to expect
Gavin Lazarus covers an unusually wide stretch, jazz standards through to rock and pop, and switches between them based on what the room is doing. Early on that might be quiet music that lets people talk over dinner. Later it's the songs that get them up. He's good at spotting the moment the change is needed, which is the skill that separates a decent solo act from one you remember. Music for the heart or the feet, and he'll read which one you need.
On the day
Three practical things. A power source at the performance spot, cover overhead if you're outdoors so the sun and rain stay off him and the gear, and somewhere close to the venue where he can unload with parking nearby. Carrying a PA a long way across a car park is the thing that slows a setup down more than anything else.
Performance options
The simplest version is Gavin alone with a guitar. Add quality backing tracks under the live vocals and guitar and it fills out to something closer to a band. For a 50s and 60s night he can bring an actual live band with him. And the Rat Pack and swing shows come in three sizes, solo, duo, or the full group, so a small lounge and a big function room can both have the same evening at different scales.
