Ghost of Elvis

The act

Darren has been picked for the Australian rounds of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist competition more than once, and only a handful get through. He's also one of the closest Presley lookalikes anywhere, which matters more than people expect when the jumpsuit walks in. The show is seventies Vegas Elvis, drawing on the 1968 to 1977 era, in authentic replica jumpsuits imported from the States and run through Mackie audio gear. Sydney based, and the work covers birthdays, weddings, pubs, clubs, festivals and retirement village shows. It scales from a solo appearance to a full band production, all with his own equipment. He also works alongside Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and Tina Turner tribute performers. Fully insured.

Good to know

What to expect

Darren walks in as Elvis and the room reacts before he's sung a note, which is the part you can't rehearse. He's one of the closest Presley lookalikes going around, and he knows what to do with it. Confident, warm with a crowd, happy to work the floor. The show sits in the seventies Vegas years, with replica jumpsuits brought in from the States rather than approximated locally.

On the day

Flexible, and worked out with you once the date is locked in. He runs everything from a small solo appearance up to a full band production, all on his own audio gear, so the venue isn't being asked to supply much. Tell him the room size and whether there's a stage and he'll tell you what fits.

Performance options

Smallest is a straight appearance, where Elvis turns up, works the room and has photos taken. Then there's the full Elvis show with the jumpsuits and the setlist, which is what most birthdays and club nights book. At the top end it's the same show with a live band behind him for a proper concert feel. Mackie gear runs the sound across all three.
