The act
Six players, two singers, male and female, with two guitars, bass and drums underneath. Kaboom! covers the 70s through to the 2000s, and everyone in the line-up has been at it since the 90s, in various bands, tribute shows and fill-in work around Melbourne. The song list is a proper crowd list: Living On A Prayer, Jessie's Girl, Superstition, Mamma Mia, My Sharona, Mr Brightside, Don't Stop Believin', Sweet Child O' Mine, You're The Voice. The harmonies are the thing that lifts it above a standard covers band. You'll need a covered stage area, and a PA with a sound engineer, which they can arrange if the venue doesn't have one.

What to expect
Six players, two voices, and harmonies that do the heavy lifting. Kaboom! open loud and stay there. The material runs from ABBA through to Led Zeppelin with a long stretch of party songs in between, and the male and female vocals trading lines is what separates this from the average pub covers outfit. It's a dancing band, not a background one. Everyone on stage has been playing since the nineties, so the transitions are tight and the energy doesn't sag in the second hour. Expect a room on its feet rather than a room politely listening.
On the day
Kaboom! need a stage area with cover over it, because six people and their gear don't mix with weather. A PA and someone to run it are the other requirement. If your venue hasn't got either, the band can sort it out for you, and the right size depends on how big the room is, so mention the space when you enquire.
