The act
Guitars in a range of tunings, a violin over the top, and a pile of original songs. Kari & Gar write their own material and have released a fair bit of it, and for festivals they're happy to play twice in a day or open for someone else, usually around 45 minutes of originals. Restaurants and cafes get a different set: originals mixed with traditional Irish tunes and ballads, plus covers from The Eagles, Jimmy Buffett, Steve Earle, Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Grateful Dead, Jim Croce, Cat Stevens and Steppenwolf. That can stretch to two or three 45 minute sets. Sound needs are light, one mic and a DI plus something for the fiddle, and for local restaurant gigs they'll bring their own PA. Based at Glenwood in Queensland.

Good to know
What to expect
Kari & Gar play their own material, and there's plenty of it. Guitars in a spread of different tunings with a violin sitting over the top, which gives the songs a shape you don't hear often. For a restaurant or a similar room they change tack, mixing the originals with traditional tunes and covers so the set sits more comfortably behind conversation and a meal.
On the day
Sound needs are light. One microphone and one DI. Then the fiddle wants either a second mic or a DI of its own, whichever your desk copes with better. That's the lot. They'd rather the monitor mix matched what's going out front, for the obvious reason that they play better when they can hear themselves properly. For local gigs and restaurant work they'll bring a PA of their own.
Performance options
Festival programmers can have them twice in one day if the schedule wants it, and they're keen on support slots ahead of other performers, which usually runs to about 45 minutes of original material. Restaurants get a longer night: three sets of roughly 45 minutes, or something close to that shaped around your service times.
