Keyna Wilkins
The act
Keyna Wilkins is a Sydney flautist, pianist and composer whose improvising has taken her through flamenco, jazz, classical and Latin ensembles around the city, and out of that mix came a style of her own. Her compositions are published by Australian music house Wirripang and include a saxophone orchestra piece, a solo flute work drawn from flamenco dance, a set of solo piano pieces and a piece for three tubas. Jazz, French impressionism, flamenco and Eastern folk music all leave marks on the writing. She has performed across Australia and Europe, including the sell-out opening of the 2011 Picasso exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW. She teaches piano, flute and theory from her Ashbury studio.
