The act
Mari. is a Sydney artist working across R&B, soul, disco-funk and hip hop, and a DJ on both vinyl and digital. The live set uses vocal looping, rap and improvised sampling, so a solo performance builds and shifts rather than running through a fixed order. Requests tend towards Alicia Keys, rap classics and anything soulful or funky. She's also a trained live mixing engineer, which shows in how the sound is handled. A booking can be an intimate vinyl or acoustic set over dinner, or a full-energy run at the dance floor, and she'll flip between the two as the night moves. PA, mixers, decks and looping gear can all be supplied. Usually a power outlet is the only thing needed from the venue.

What to expect
Nothing is set in stone before she arrives. Mari. builds a solo set live, looping vocals, dropping in rap and sampling on the spot, so the performance grows through the night instead of running down a list. Over dinner it can be vinyl or acoustic and quiet enough to talk across. Later it turns funky and pointed at the dance floor. She moves between the two as she reads the room, and being a trained live mixing engineer she's paying attention to how it actually sounds out where you're standing.
On the day
A power outlet is usually all she asks of the venue. Everything else comes with her: PA, mixers, decks and her own looping gear. If your venue already has a system, or you'd rather she worked with what's installed, that's worth raising early so the setup gets planned around it.
Performance options
Four different bookings live under this one name. A vinyl DJ set is the first, and the decks and PA can come with her or stay yours if the venue already has them. A digital DJ set is the other, sized to whatever you need, an hour at one end or a full six hour night at the other, with gear included. Away from the decks she works as a solo artist, and there's an acoustic duo version as well. Say what the room is and how long you want music running, and she'll tell you which of those fits.
