The act
One man, a Boss 500 looper, a harmonica and a pile of guitars. Matty Coull plays blues and psychedelic rock out of Albany, mixing covers with his own material, and the influences are worn openly: Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Rodriguez, Tom Petty, Neil Young, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses. He works a Cole Clark acoustic and Gibson, Strat and Tele electrics, and the looping is what turns a soloist into something with the weight of a band. Set lists get built to order, soft and slow through to loud enough to move a room. He owns all his gear and it scales to whatever size venue you've got. He travels for gigs across the region. All he needs from you is power.

Good to know
What to expect
Matty gets there early. An hour ahead of the first song is his habit, which gives him time to set up, run the sound check properly and have any last conversations about how you want the night to go. By the time your guests arrive the gear is already sorted and quiet. It sounds like a small thing on paper. It is the difference between music starting on the dot and music starting once someone finds an extension lead.
