A Bachelor of Music in performance from the Queensland Conservatorium, and ten years of gigs to go with it. Melissa Roma sings weddings, birthdays, dinner service, cafe afternoons and corporate nights, and she scales the line-up to the job, from a solo acoustic set through to a duo, trio or quintet. Solo suits easy listening and atmosphere. The duo can go jazz, pop or party. The full band does high energy or straight jazz depending on what the night needs. The covers list runs through Valerie, Isn't She Lovely, Love On Top, Yellow, Just The Two Of Us and Put Your Records On, with a jazz list underneath it holding But Not For Me, What Is This Thing Called Love and Don't Get Around Much Anymore. Requests get learned. Amplification comes with every booking, and there's a battery powered PA for spots without power.

Good to know
What to expect
Ten years of gigs and a Bachelor of Music in performance from the Queensland Conservatorium sit behind the voice, and both show up in different ways. The training is why the tone is so even. The gigs are why she reads a room properly. Melissa has worked weddings, birthdays and private parties, easy listening through dinner service, and pop acoustic afternoons in cafes, and she pitches the set to whichever one you're running. Requests get learned rather than politely declined. Tell her the kind of night you're picturing and she'll build towards it.
On the day
Amplification comes with every booking, so you don't need to source a PA. Power at the performance spot is preferred and makes life easier. But if there isn't any, she has a battery powered PA that will cover it, which is handy for garden ceremonies and anywhere the nearest outlet is a long way off.
Performance options
Solo is acoustic covers, best suited to easy listening and building atmosphere rather than filling a floor. The duo can go jazz, pop or party depending on what the night needs. And the band version covers three directions of its own: a high energy party set, a corporate set, or a straight jazz set for something more relaxed. Trio and quintet sizes are available between those, so there's a step for most rooms.
