The act
Soulful voice, earthy acoustic guitar, and a Brisbane act that scales to fit. Michelle Rau works solo, as a duo, as a trio or as a full band, and you can effectively build the line up yourself: singer guitarist, bass, drums, lead guitar, saxophone, keys. A common shape for weddings is a smaller version for the ceremony and cocktail hour, then the full band for the party. Her repertoire stretches from quiet background music through to the songs that fill a floor, taking in sixties and seventies, eighties and nineties, country, jazz, funk and R&B. Sound and lighting production comes with her. Power to the setup area is the only requirement.

Good to know
What to expect
Michelle Rau can be one person with a guitar or a full band, so what you actually get depends on the shape you ask for. What stays constant is the range. She'll play quiet background music while people eat and talk, then move into the songs that pull a floor together later on. It's a repertoire built by someone who has clearly done a lot of different rooms and pays attention to which one she's in. Tell her the mood you want at each point of the night and she'll pitch it there.
On the day
Sound and lighting production is all supplied, so you don't need to hire anything in or borrow the venue's rig. The one thing required from your side is power to the area where she's setting up.
Performance options
You get to build the line-up. Solo, duo and trio versions suit a ceremony or the cocktail hour, and solo through to the full band works for the reception or afterparty. The musicians available to draw on are a singer guitarist, bass, drums, lead guitar, saxophone and keys, so the sound can be as small or as big as the room takes. Plenty of people go smaller early and full band once the dancing starts.
