The act
Start with a soulful duo over canapes, build to a party band, then let the DJ set carry the last hours. That's the shape of a Miss Renee Simone booking, and she scales it: duo with a guitarist, trio adding sax and percussion, four, five and six piece from there, up to a ten piece with brass and a second vocalist if the venue will wear it. Fifteen years as a singer, DJ and event planner, and creative direction on more than 1,800 weddings. She's also the director of Byron Bay Experience, which plans and hosts the whole wedding weekend. Byron Bay based, all equipment included, power from the venue.

Good to know
What to expect
The night moves through gears. It opens with a soulful live duo, builds into the full party band, then Miss Renee Simone steps onto the decks and the DJ set carries the last of it. That transition is the whole idea and it's smoother than booking three separate acts. She's spent 15 years as a singer, DJ and event planner, and has creatively directed entertainment for more than 1,800 weddings, so the shape of a wedding day is not something she's guessing at. Expect stylish and relaxed rather than showy, tailored to what you two are actually like.
On the day
All the equipment is included, so there's no separate hire to arrange. The venue needs to supply power. That's the extent of it.
Performance options
The line-up scales a long way. A duo is Miss Renee with a guitarist. The trio adds sax and percussion. A four piece brings in bass or keyboard, and the five piece, which is the minimum for the party band, adds a drum kit. Six gets you guitar, sax, percussion, bass, keyboard and drums together. And if the venue will allow it, a full brass section and a second vocalist take it up to a ten piece. A wedding usually runs the smaller version for the ceremony and canapes, dinner music after that, then the big line-up once dancing starts.
