A Sydney jazz quartet that treats a Dua Lipa song the same way it treats Sinatra. Dave Bell on saxophone, Nathan Gliddon on guitar, Wes Harder on piano and Cam Reid on drums, working from Louis Armstrong and the Great American Songbook through to Levitating, Dance Monkey, Get Lucky and Feel It Still, all rearranged as jazz. It suits the shape of a wedding day well: ceremony, cocktail hour, then reception, without ever tipping into background wallpaper. The group scales from two to five pieces, and there's a DJ combination if you want the back half of the night to go somewhere louder. They bring a PA that covers a room of about 200. Sets run 45 minutes.

What to expect
Jazz arrangements of songs you already know. The quartet rewrites contemporary favourites into something closer to a supper club, then plays them with their own sound rather than a stock chart. It fits the run of a wedding day well, ceremony, then cocktail hour, then reception, and it stays elegant without turning into wallpaper. Sets run 45 minutes. If you like the standards, they play those too, so the night can move between Sinatra-era material and a song from last year without anyone noticing the join.
On the day
A stage area of about 4m x 3m works, though 5m x 4m is more comfortable for the full line-up. Three or four standard power outlets near the playing area, for the electric piano, the guitar amp, the saxophone microphone and the odd pedal or charger. In a small room of up to about 100 guests, a front-of-house PA suited to the space, a mixing console with six to eight input channels, and speaker stands if the speakers aren't already rigged.
Performance options
The acoustic package is two to five musicians, a mix of saxophone, guitar, keys, bass, drums and vocals, over a five hour call time with up to four 45-minute live sets. It includes a PA for a room of about 200 and controlled background music between the sets. There's a DJ and sax combo on the same five hour, four set shape. Or a band and DJ combination, where the band opens the night and the DJ takes it through to the end, if you can't choose between the two.
