The act
Neo have been playing together for more than 15 years, which shows in how relaxed the whole thing sounds. The blend is chill-out, jazz, funk, gospel and R&B, with songs by Jill Scott, Beady Belle and Alicia Keys among others. Melissa Crothers sings, band leader Daron Crothers plays saxophones and flute, Ookii Effendi is on piano, keys and synth, and Gavin Kerr is behind the drums. Members hold degrees from the WA Academy of Performing Arts in jazz and musical theatre, and they tour internationally when the chance comes up. Weddings, corporate events, venue bookings and private occasions all sit comfortably in their range.
