What to expect
Two very different jobs, handled by the same outfit. A quiet canapes hour where the music sits under the conversation is one of them. A loud dance floor at the back end of the night is the other. Phat Sauce do both, and the look on stage is thought about as carefully as the playing. Behind the scenes it's organised: the admin gets done, questions get answered, and the size and shape of the band is agreed with you well before the day instead of assumed.
On the day
The PA and the lighting rig both travel with the band, so the venue doesn't need its own system. What you'll want to sort out is floor space and where the power comes from, since that changes a fair bit between the seven piece and the duo. Let them know which line-up you're after and what the room looks like, and the rig gets scaled to fit.
Performance options
Nine different line-ups sit under the one name. At the big end there's a seven piece party band, then a four piece, then a three piece groove band if you want the funk without the volume. A canapes duo or a solo acoustic singer covers the quieter part of a day. And beyond the standard band shapes there's a brass band, a marching band, a salsa band and a country and folk line-up, which is unusual to find in one place. Weddings often use two of them across the same day.
