PROPS 4 HIP HOP cover Tupac, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Outkast, Missy Elliott, Run DMC, Jay-Z and Eminem for the casual fans, then dig into Wu-Tang Clan, Notorious B.I.G., N.W.A and Public Enemy for anyone who knows their golden age. Behind the decks sits ADMD, a scratch DJ who plays Western Australia's top venues in his own right and fills the breaks between sets in whatever style suits the crowd. The Perth outfit play up to three 45-minute sets, run their own in-ear monitors and wireless mics for a quick changeover, can supply a PA, and will scale right down for an intimate show of up to 50 people.

What to expect
Four people, old skool crew format: a DJ plus three MCs trading vocals back and forth. You get up to three 45-minute sets of live rap, with DJ sets filling the gaps in whatever style you ask for. The songs are picked so nobody's left out. Anyone who only knows the singles gets Tupac, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Run DMC, Salt 'N Pepa, Lauryn Hill, Beastie Boys and De La Soul. Anyone who came for the deep cuts gets Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Ice Cube and Public Enemy. Video clips run in sync behind the band the whole way through, and the crowd gets talked to, not just played at.
On the day
The band carry their own in-ear monitors and wireless mics, so your sound engineer just plugs them into the stage box and gets on with it. Ask them for the tech rider and stage plot when you book. They can bring a PA if the room hasn't got one. And for something small, up to about 50 guests, they'll strip the whole rig back to the bare minimum.
Set List
The show is built as timed mixes rather than a straight song list. An old skool block runs through Rapper's Delight by Sugarhill Gang, It's Tricky by Run DMC, Bust a Move by Young MC, Jump by Kris Kross and De La Soul's Ring Ring Ring. A 2000s block brings Work It by Missy Elliott, Party Up by DMX, Let Me Clear My Throat by DJ Kool and Not Many by Scribe. Then it's east coast against west coast: Hit 'Em Up, C.R.E.A.M., Hypnotize, Juicy and Regulate. Later blocks cover Dr Dre and 50 Cent, a reggae and dancehall run with Temperature and Hotstepper, and a set of the softer chart duets like Dilemma and Always on Time.
Performance options
The DJ, ADMD, is a booking in his own right. He plays Western Australia's top venues, has turned up on club and festival bills on both coasts, and promoters often put him on the DJ stage separately when the band is on the live stage. Scratching, blending and reading the room is his thing, and that's what lets the band widen out past rap on the night. He'll usually drop R&B classics, Destiny's Child, Rihanna, Whitney Houston, Mary J Blige, Usher, Alicia Keys, TLC, but he can also run whole sets of 80s and 90s pop, current chart, afrobeat and amapiano, soul and funk, funky house, breaks or drum and bass. Extra DJ hours can be arranged with him directly, which makes a whole night's entertainment from one booking.
