Opera Bar, Cruise Bar, Ivy Penthouse, Starship Sydney, Hotel Steyne in Manly. SaxBeatz have worked the rooms where the music has to carry a crowd that came out to dance. DJ Chabi curates and produces the sets, and plays Roland electric hand drum and bongos over the top of them; alto saxophonist Malina Kelderman adds live sax lines for the classic duo show. The full version brings in vocalists too. Musically it's house-leaning reworks of chart, EDM, disco and tech house, with layered sax over the beats. They supply everything: PA and monitor, DJ decks, wireless sax and handheld mics, LED and UV lighting, with lasers, moving heads and haze available if you want the room to look the part.

Good to know
What to expect
Everything SaxBeatz do is built for a floor that's meant to be full. DJ Chabi shapes and produces the sets, playing Roland electric hand drum and bongos live over the top so there's something to watch as well as dance to. The classic version adds Malina Kelderman on alto sax, weaving lines through house-leaning reworks of chart, EDM, disco and tech house. It's the sort of set that's carried rooms like Opera Bar and the Ivy Penthouse, where the crowd came out specifically to dance and won't settle for background music.
On the day
They bring the lot, and it gets sized to your venue and to how many of them are playing. A standard rig is two high powered fifteen inch PA speakers on stands, a monitor, four LED and UV lights, a DJ table, Pioneer decks, a wireless sax mic and a wireless handheld for speeches, which saves you organising a separate mic for the toasts. Bigger setups can add a vocal mic and stand, moving head spotlights, LED bars, smoke and haze machines and lasers. Say what you want the room to look like and they'll load accordingly.
Performance options
Three shapes. The DJ set alone is Chabi curating and producing for your event, with live percussion over the top rather than just a laptop and a pair of headphones. The duo adds Malina on alto sax, which is the version most people picture when they think of this act. The full show brings vocalists in as well, and that's the one that turns up regularly at private and corporate functions. If you want a singer in the mix, flag it when you send your enquiry so the right line-up is quoted.
