One vision of a song, going out through two hands and one voice at the same time. That's the whole idea with Sharon Davis: solo piano or keyboard and vocals, mostly jazz standards with a few other songs thrown in to keep it interesting. She learned on a hundred-year-old Steinway, trained at the WA Academy of Performing Arts, and has played stages in Melbourne, Perth, Istanbul and Tokyo. The set suits ceremonies, restaurants, cocktail bars, anywhere the music should sit under the conversation rather than over it. She'll play a venue's acoustic piano if it's been tuned in the last month, otherwise she brings a digital one. Larger line-ups are possible too, up to a quartet with drums, guitar and sax.

Good to know
What to expect
Piano and voice at the same time, from one person. Sharon Davis plays mostly jazz standards, on an acoustic piano or a keyboard, and the whole thing is pitched to sit underneath a room rather than take it over. That makes her a fit for a ceremony, a restaurant service or a cocktail bar, where you want the music noticed but not competing. It's quiet, skilled work, and it changes the feel of a space without anyone having to stop talking.
On the day
If your venue has an acoustic piano and it's been tuned within the past month, Sharon will happily play it. That tuning window isn't fussiness. An out of tune piano is audible to everyone in the room, including the people who claim they can't hear it. Where there's no piano, or it hasn't been touched by a tuner in a while, she brings a digital one instead.
Performance options
Beyond the solo piano and vocal booking, Sharon can put a jazz group together. A duo, a trio, or a quartet filled out with drums, guitar and sax. The larger line-ups suit a night where you want the music to grow as the evening does. Mention the size of your room and the sort of night you're after when you get in touch and she'll suggest which shape works.
