Ben and Carmelo were teaching music at a Perth school when they discovered they liked the same records and formed a band. A friend of a friend introduced them to Lauralee, and The Chills were complete. The trio, female lead vocals with keys, male vocals and drums behind her, play soul, funk, RnB and blues with a touch of classic Aussie rock, all on live instruments. Sets run from Aretha Franklin, Bill Withers and Chaka Khan through to Amy Winehouse, Uptown Funk and Ed Sheeran. Early in the night they sit back in the groove. Later, they fill the dance floor.

Good to know
What to expect
A Perth trio playing soul, funk, RnB and blues, with some classic Aussie rock in there as well. Ben and Carmelo met teaching music at a Perth school, found they liked the same records and started a band; a friend of a friend brought in Lauralee and that was the line-up. Everything's played on live instruments, no backing tracks, with the female lead vocal over keys, male vocals and drums. They'll do faithful versions of the songs you know, mashups that stitch an old track to a new one, and the occasional B side or rarity that's fallen out of rotation. Early on it's music to sit back to. Later it's music to dance to.
On the day
A covered performance area of at least 4m x 3m, and access to power. Nothing else needed.
