Live jazz played to silent film. Five experienced Melbourne players make up The Sounds of Silent, and they accompany Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton pictures with scores the band has developed itself, covering titles like The General, Steamboat Bill Jr, Sherlock Jr, The Cameraman, College and Spite Marriage from Keaton, and The Great Dictator, Gold Rush, The Circus, City Lights, Modern Times and The Kid from Chaplin, plus a handful of Laurel and Hardy shorts. Shows work indoors or out. The band can also rove or play a straight jazz set, and it's an easy fit for a 1920s theme night or a centenary.
