Velvet
The act
The running order rarely changes because it works: a chilled acoustic or jazz instrumental set over dinner, then two party sets once the formalities are done. Velvet play three 45 minute sets in a typical night, with background music through the breaks and a microphone available for speeches. The Adelaide band performs as a four or five piece fronted by Kate or Emma on vocals, or both, with a PA sized to the room and the guest count. They arrive two hours before the start so everything's ready before your first guest walks in, and they'll work around your formalities rather than making you work around them. Weddings, birthdays, awards nights and corporate events are all familiar territory.

What to expect
An evening tends to run as three 45 minute sets, often opening with something chilled over dinner, an acoustic set or jazz instrumentals, then two party sets after the eating is done. Recorded music fills the gaps between sets, and a microphone is there for speeches if you want one. The reception window is generally somewhere around 7pm to 11pm. They arrive two hours before the start so the gear is up and quiet before a single guest walks in, and they'll bend the running order around your formalities.
Performance options
There are four ways to book them. Velvet is a four piece with Kate or Emma singing; Velvet 5 adds the second vocalist so you get both. Velvet Trio is three players fronted by a male vocalist who also plays guitar. The Vibe is a separate three piece doing instrumental jazz, funk and quieter material. The band's own preference is the five piece with both women out front. Each comes with either a vocal PA or a larger PA, the bigger one recommended once you're past 200 guests or working in a big room. Sets generally run three by 45 minutes, two or three for The Vibe, and they ask that a meal be provided for every member on the night.
