Three women, one big noise. Vix and the Slick Chix are a Sunshine Coast trio playing blues, soul, roots, rock and R&B pulled from six decades of good-time music, and their whole approach is built on reading a room and adjusting. Background music early, dance floor later, and plenty of banter in between. Between them they've spent decades on stage, and it shows in how quickly they change tack when a crowd shifts. They work pubs, clubs, festivals, weddings and functions. Bookings can be a solo, duo, trio or four piece, with an option to open on acoustic guitar and ukulele for canapes and close the night with a DJ set. They bring their own sound system and lighting, and they're insured.

Good to know
What to expect
The Slick Chix read the room and play to it. Early on that might be background music while people arrive and talk; later it's a party set aimed at the dance floor. Humour runs through the whole thing, and the between-song banter is quick. They've worked functions, weddings, pubs, clubs and festivals, so an odd corner of a venue or a stage in a paddock doesn't rattle them.
On the day
Give them an hour before the start time to load in, set up and run their checks. They bring a good sound system and a small lighting rig with them. One thing to sort in advance: they need cover over the performance area, both to keep the gear dry and to keep the sun off the band.
Performance options
Book them as a solo, a duo, a trio or a four piece. There's also a full package that carries a whole night: acoustic guitar and ukulele for the canapes and cocktails at the start, full band sets once people are ready to dance, then a DJ set from drummer Nikki to close it out.
